Career Pathways

Direct, Bridge, or Aspirational.

The Ward Transition pathway system helps veterans understand what kind of transition plan they need after completing the TRI assessment. The pathway is not a label. It is a planning tool.

Pathway 01Direct

Ready to translate experience and compete for aligned roles.

Pathway 02Bridge

Strong foundation with a credential, skill, or positioning gap.

Pathway 03Aspirational

A larger career shift that needs exploration and phased planning.

Three Routes

Each pathway answers a different question.

The goal is to help the veteran stop guessing and begin working from the right plan: optimization, bridge-building, or reinvention.

01
Highest readiness

Direct Pathway

For veterans whose military experience maps closely to a civilian role or industry. The focus is not rebuilding the career story — it is translating it clearly and moving quickly.

Best Fit
  • Clear civilian job target
  • Strong experience-to-role alignment
  • Resume foundation already exists
  • Confidence and readiness are high
Primary outcome: employer-ready materials, targeted applications, and focused interview preparation.
02
Moderate readiness

Bridge Pathway

For veterans with valuable experience who need a credential, skills update, civilian terminology, or stronger positioning before they can compete effectively.

Best Fit
  • Strong background but unclear positioning
  • Training or certification gap
  • Needs civilian language translation
  • Needs a practical 30–90 day plan
Primary outcome: a realistic bridge plan that closes gaps without losing momentum.
03
Deep planning need

Aspirational Pathway

For veterans pursuing a larger reinvention, a new industry, or a long-term career goal that does not immediately match their current readiness profile.

Best Fit
  • Major career shift or reinvention
  • Unclear civilian target
  • Needs exploration and confidence work
  • Requires staged milestones
Primary outcome: a phased OP-PLAN that turns aspiration into accountable next steps.

How the pathway is used.

TRI results help identify which route is most appropriate. The pathway then guides the recommended workbook steps, Aria prompts, counseling focus, and career materials.

PathwayTypical ReadinessMain NeedRecommended Support
DirectHigh readinessTranslation and targetingResume, LinkedIn, interview prep, application strategy
BridgeModerate readinessCredential, skill, or positioning bridgeTraining plan, skills gap review, document rebuild, coaching
AspirationalDeveloping readinessExploration and phased planningOP-PLAN, pathway coaching, confidence building, long-term roadmap

This is not a pass/fail system.

A lower readiness result does not mean a veteran is unqualified. It means the transition plan needs more structure before the next move.

  • Direct users need speed and precision.
  • Bridge users need targeted gap closure.
  • Aspirational users need sequence and support.
